Bangladesh v India Test Match, Dhaka, 10-13 Nov, 2000 INDIA WON BY 9 WICKETS EARLY JOY FOR BANGLADESH DASHED Alas it was not to be a fairly tale entry into the Test arena for the 10th Test playing nation. After posting 400 first time out, the tourist's stepped up a gearin Bangladesh's second innings as spinner Sunil Joshi and Javagal Srinath run them out of town for 91 to seal their fate. It was a promising start, as Aminul Islam's epic 145 showed. But the teams performances in warm-up matches have been poor, and it will take time to really get to grips with the 'big league'. At least they bowled India out, with skipper Naimur Rahaman picking up six Indian batsmen with his spin. It will mean a lot of hard work, and facing the fact that they are going to get some serious beating's along the way. But like Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in most recent times, they should eventually find their feet. Richard Kendall |
